Junior Market Lamb

Rules and Regulations:
- In any case where questions arise that are not covered specifically by the following rules, the decision of the Steering Committee will be final.
- Youth age 5 - 18 as of January 1 of the show year is eligible to exhibit, provided their project has been supervised and approved by their Agricultural Extension Agent or Vocational Teacher. The show is open to all breeds of sheep. Youth, age 5 - 8, will have separate non-competitive Cloverbud Classes.
- Lambs must be fed and cared for by the exhibitor for a minimum of 60 days before the show date.
- Lambs must be free from disease, be a wether or ewe (no rams), and must have tail docked.
- Lambs will be shown as individual, and each exhibitor is limited to two entries. If an exhibitor has more than one lamb in a class, the second lamb must be shown by a junior exhibitor approved by the Steering Committee.
- All lambs will be mouthed, weighted and numbered between the hours of 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16. The fleece must be dry at weighing, and lambs must weight between 8-0 - 135 lbs.
- All lambs must have all temporary (baby) teeth in place at the time of the show.
- Each exhibitor or buyer must assume liability in the case of death or injury of his lamb. The manage ment, exhibitors, and owners of exhibits assume liability for injury to individuals or property.
- Lambs may be shown at halter. Major fitting should be completed before arrival. Final fitting will be completed the afternoon of the show. Class size will be limited to 12 head. If the number of entries exceeds 12, the entries will be divided to form additional classes at the discretion of the Steering Committee.
- Exhibitors will feed and care for their lambs until release time (Saturday, September 20) This is a Terminal Show.
Conformation of Individual Lamb: 6:00 p.m., Thursday, 18, show arena
Lambs will be shown in halter and judged on conformation and U.S. Grades.
Judging will be on the Danish System (everyone receives a ribbon based on quality) |
