Plans have been made for the 55th annual fair to be held at the Wayne Proffitt Agricultural Center on September 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21. It is hoped that each section of the county will be represented by exhibits this year.
All exhibits must be entered by 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16. Space arrangements will be made and anyone desiring to do so may begin placing exhibit booths at 8:00 a.m. Monday, September 15. Someone will be present to receive entries and help place and arrange all exhibits.
The fair will be officially opened Wednesday, September 17, at 1:00 p.m. with the Opening Ceremony. Judging in all departments will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m., September 17.
Individual exhibits and booths must be removed from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 21 or Monday morning, September 22, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Exhibits may be donated to the Harvest Sale which will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 22, at the Fair Grounds.
Rules of Macon County Fair
- Livestock will be exhibited during the week of the fair. Exhibitors will be expected to furnish feed for their livestock and be responsible for their care.
- No animal will be allowed to run at large on the grounds nor will any hitching be allowed except at places regularly allotted for the purpose.
- Every animal or article on the grounds will be under the control of the Fair Association, and while every precaution will be taken for the safekeeping of same, the association will in no way be responsible for any loss, damage, or accident that may occur.
- Any person or persons exhibiting animals or articles who publicly express disapproval on the grounds of the decision of the judges, or who by act of interference shall be guilty of conduct unbecoming to an exhibitor shall not be permitted to compete again for premiums at any fair of this association.
- All animals exhibited must be free of disease. If animals are in question of health as determined by veterinarian they must be removed from the Fair Grounds.
- All privileges and concessions people, together with their employees, assistants and helpers, must obey the rules or any other specifications of the association and refusal or neglect will forfeit all rights they may have by venture of such privileges or concessions.
- All livestock must be entered on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 and left in the livestock barn until Sunday, September 21, 2008.
